Creating Your Portal

 

So now that your signed up, the first thing you want to do is Create Your Portal. To do so, click the Create Your Portal box.

Step 1: Portal Subdomain

Enter the subdomain of your new Famecast Portal. This is the URL where your fans will use to get to your Portal. Choose a short subdomain (less than 15 characters) which is easily remembered by your fans. Once filled in, click the blue Continue button to go to the next step.

NOTE: You can use your own domain name, which can be set up later after your initial setup. For now, choose a subdomain first and will show you how to change the domain name once you have created your Portal.

 

Step 2: Portal Logo

On this screen, you will set up your logo. This is the logo that will be displayed at the top header of your new Portal and will also be displayed on your merchandise so choose wisely. You have a choice of using a Default Logo, which is a default text-based logo based on your subdomain name and previewed in the box, or Create/Upload Logo (recommended), which will take you to a pop-up screen where you can create or upload a logo.

If you chose Create/Upload Logo, you will be presented with the option to either Create Logo or Upload Logo (recommended). If you click the checkbox next to Create Logo, you can then enter the text of your logo in the box and six text-based different font versions of your text-based logo will be displayed below. You can choose one of the six text-based font logos by selecting on the one you like, which will be highlighted when selected.

If you click the check box next to Upload Logo, you can then click on the box with the + (Select your own logo), which will pull up your PC File Explorer or Mac Finder window.

You can then browse your computer and select an image file (JPG, GIF or JPG) to upload, which when then be used for your logo. It is recommended that you upload a transparent PNG image if possible as this will look the best on your Portal and your Merchandise (click here to find out how to find and/or create a transparent PNG logo image). You should upload a high-resolution image (at least 300 x 300, preferably 500×500 or better). On a PC, go to the folder where the image is located on your PC and then select the image you want. Click the Open button to select the image. On a Mac, go to the folder where the image is located on your Mac and then select the image you want. Click the _____ button to select the image.

Once you have selected your image file, a Preview popup window with the selected logo file will appear (as above). Here, you can crop the image by moving your mouse to one of the adjustment squares located on all four corners and the middle of all four sides. Crop accordingly to eliminate as much white space as possible around your logo image. Click the red Cancel button if you don’t like the logo image and want to choose another logo image. You will be taken back to the previous screen. Click the blue Save button if you are satisfied with your logo image and Crop and you will be taken back to the previous screen

When satisfied with your text or uploaded logo, click the blue Create button to proceed.

You will be taken back to the Step 2: Portal Logo page and your text or logo image will be displayed in the Preview window. If not satisfied, you can hit the Edit button and repeat the last steps. If you are satisfied, click the blue Continue button to go to the next step.

 

Step 3: Headline & Hero Image

On this screen, you will type in a Headline and upload a Hero Image for your new Portal.

 

For Headline, you can enter a Headline you want to use here. The Headline is a phrase that will be displayed across your Hero Image and represents the tagine for your Portal. It is optional. If you don’t want a Headline, leave it bank, otherwise fill it in with a Headline you like. Do not use any symbols like commas (,), apostrophes (‘), dashes (-), etc. in your Headline or it will be rejected.

For Hero Image, you can upload your Hero Image. The Hero Image will be the main image that is displayed at the top of your Portal. Click on the Hero Image box with the (+), which will pull up your PC File Explorer or Mac Finder window.

You can then browse your computer and select an image file (JPG, GIF or JPG) to upload, which when then be used for your logo. On a PC, go to the folder where the image is located on your PC and then select the image you want. Click the Open button to select the image. On a Mac, go to the folder where the image is located on your Mac and then select the image you want. Click the _____ button to select the image. It is recommended that you upload a transparent PNG image if possible as this will look the best on your Portal and your Merchandise (click here to find out how to find and/or create a transparent PNG logo image). You should upload a high-resolution image (at least 800 x 300, preferably 1280×450 or better). Note that it is a slim rectangle so choose an image that will look good in a slim rectangle. You will be able to crop and preview the image once you upload the image file.

A popup window will now appear with the image you selected appearing in the Preview box. A slim rectangle Crop window will appear overlayed on the image showing you the dimensions of the Hero Image with what will be visible shown inside the rectangle Crop box and what will be cropped out shown darker and outside of the rectangle box. You can adjust the Crop box by pulling on one of the four square adjustors on one of the four corners of the Crop box. Select one of the adjustors to adjust the crop size of your Hero Image. If the image is not to your satisfaction, you can click the red Cancel box to go back to the last step. If you are satisfied with the cropped Hero Image, click the blue Save button and you will be taken back to the Step 3: Headline & Hero Image screen.

Once you have entered your Headline (optional) and uploaded your Hero Image, you can click the blue Continue button at the bottom to go on to the final step.

 

Step 4: Your Profile

In this screen you will enter your Display Name, upload your Avatar image and enter your Legal Name and Legal Address.

At the Display Name, enter the username handle you would like to be known as on your Portal. It can be your first name, last name, a combination of your first and last name or a nickname.

Next, you will upload your Avatar image which will be displayed as your Avatar image throughout the Portal. Click the (+) on the Avatar, which will pull up your PC File Explorer or Mac Finder window.

The Avatar image should be a good picture of your face or an image or logo that represents you. You can then browse your computer and select an image file (JPG, GIF or JPG) to upload, which when then be used for your logo. It is recommended that you upload a transparent PNG image if possible as this will look the best on your Portal and your Merchandise (click here to find out how to find and/or create a transparent PNG logo image). You should upload a high-resolution image (at least 165 x 165, preferably 300 x 300 or better). On a PC, go to the folder where the image is located on your PC and then select the image you want. Click the Open button to select the image. On a Mac, go to the folder where the image is located on your Mac and then select the image you want. Click the _____ button to select the image.

A popup window will now appear with the Avatar image you selected appearing in the Preview box. A square Crop window will appear overlayed on the Avatar image showing you the dimensions of the Avatar with what will be visible shown inside the square Crop box and what will be cropped out shown darker and outside of the square box. You can adjust the Crop box by pulling on one of the four square adjustors on one of the four corners of the Crop box. Select one of the adjustors to adjust the crop size of your Avatar. If the image is not to your satisfaction, you can click the red Cancel box to go back to the last step. If you are satisfied with the cropped Hero Image, click the blue Save button and you will be taken back to the Step 4: Your Profile screen.

The Avatar image you uploaded and cropped should now appear in the Avatar circle. If you do not like the Avatar image, you can click Edit and repeat the previous steps. Next, you will fill out your legal information and address.

Make sure you enter your legal name and address as this will be used to pay you. You will enter your First Name, Last Name, Country (use the pull down menu to select your country), Address, Address 2 (Apt., Suite, etc.), City, State (use the pull down menu to select your State, if you do not see any selections, go back and select your Country first and State choices will then populate) and Zip Code.

Once finished, hit the Continue button at the bottom of the page and you are done. A screen will come up with a preview of your turnkey branded merchandise, which will be created for you automatically and be immediately available in your Portal e-commerce shop once your Portal has created. Click the blue Continue button at the bottom to proceed to the next step.

You will now see a screen with a preview of your branded Turnkey Merchandise. Your Portal and E-Commerce Shop is being generated. Click the blue Continue button at the bottom to proceed to the next step.

Congratulations! You have finished the Create Your Portal process. You are now back at the Creator Dashboard, which is your central command center to manage your Famecast Portal, Community, Shop, Events and Content. Your Portal is being created and provisioned, which takes about 10-20 minutes. There is a yellow In Progress status bar next to View Your Portal. Once the portal finishes creating and provisioning, this will turn into a green Live status bar and you will be notified with a pop window that your Portal is ready. If you don’t want to wait around, you can leave and come back later. An email will also be sent to you when your Portal is ready so you can come back after you receive the email.

In the meantime, you can explore your Creator Dashboard and set up your News Feeds and Social Accounts.
